A landmark, a bridge, a river, and the people who cross it every day.
CLD began the way most good community groups do — a handful of neighbours who wanted more chances to actually see each other. What started as a shared morning tea has grown into a full calendar of events, programmes and support that runs right across the district.
The tower in our mark is a real landmark here, and the bridge over the river is the route most of us take to get to each other. We built our name around both, because that's exactly what we're trying to be: a fixed point everyone recognises, and a way across to people you might not otherwise meet.
We show up for this district specifically — not a generic programme dropped in from elsewhere.
Every age, every background. If you live here, there's a place for you at CLD.
Our committee and volunteers are the same people you'll see at the events themselves.
We plan for the next generation, not just the next event on the calendar.

The best way to understand CLD is to turn up to one of our events.
